NEW GRADUATE SURVIVAL MANUAL
WILL IT BE AN ADVENTURE?
We're here to reminder you, you are not alone!
Your new career will be an adventure. Like all adventures, it will bring excitement, anxiety, rewards, loneliness, and joy. Throughout those experiences and in all the phases of your career, the VIN Foundation will be here for you, offering support when you need it. When, and if, you become ready to share your knowledge and experience with other new grads as a Vets4Vets® mentor, we will also be here for you!
Stay in contact with your vet school colleagues and those you meet along the way. This can be a great way to continue building your network throughout your career. That network will help you to find new adventures and goals as a veterinarian.
Another opportunity throughout your career is to be involved in organized veterinary medicine and professional organizations. Not only are these additional opportunities to grow your network, but also a way to continue building your professional skills and development.
Don’t be afraid to continue growing your skills and knowledge! CE courses, workshops, additional certifications are all great ways to stay engaged with your lifelong learning. You may even find that you fall in love with an area of practice and want to pursue additional training to become board certified in that area. That’s one of the amazing things about veterinary medicine, there are so many directions your career can take.
Congratulations and remember you are not alone!
