VIN Foundation Download My IDR Progress FAQs and SUPPORT
Installation Instructions
Step 1) Go to the Chrome Web Store page for the Download My IDR Progress extension and click the “Add to Chrome” button. Note: You’ll need to be signed into a Google Chrome browser to add the extension to Chrome.
Step 2) Log in to studentaid.gov and navigate to your IDR Payment History. Note: You need to be using an income-driven plan to be able to get to the IDR Payment History page. If you do not see an “IDR End of Payment Term” widget on your dashboard, then try entering https://studentaid.gov/aid-summary/idr-loan-forgiveness/payment-history into your browser. The IDR Payment History page looks like this:
Step 3) Once you’re on the IDR Payment History page, refresh the page one time, click the browser extension and hit “START”
Step 4) Save your downloaded IDR payment history to your device.
FAQs and Troubleshooting
Will this work on a Mac?
Yes. You can download a Chrome extension on a Mac as long as you are using the Google Chrome Browser.
I click the start button on my extension and it doesn’t do anything?
Make sure you are on the https://studentaid.gov/aid-summary/idr-loan-forgiveness/payment-history page. The extension will only work on that page. Refresh your page one time and click the extension START button again.
I’m not able to see the “Start” button on my extension?
Make sure you are on the https://studentaid.gov/aid-summary/idr-loan-forgiveness/payment-history page. The extension will only work on that page.
If you’re not able to get to that page, then you may not have access to the IDR Payment History. To view your IDR forgiveness count, log in to studentaid.gov, then enter the API link into your browser: https://studentaid.gov/app/api/nslds/payment-counter/summary
The API link data is going to look really ugly as it is not formatted well for viewing. Keep a copy of it for your records.
How do I uninstall the extension?
Navigate to the “Extensions” menu item in your Chrome browser. Go to the Download My IDR Progress by VIN Foundation extension, and click “Remove Extension.”
This is also useful if you are upgrading to the newest version of the extension (v1.0.8). Once you have v1.0.8 installed, the extension will notify you if a newer version is available.
